Aerial.

Another shot taken whilst flying above Folkestone. I've put up many many pictures of this area before, as Dean and I spend a lot of time walking arond the harbour. The white building just by the harbour is the Grand Burstin Hotel which I have uploaded pictures of before.

When talking to my friends about our flight above Kent, I explained how I had experienced it in a way that I had not expected to. I assumed that looking down on Kent from a distance would make everything seem less significant but oddly, seeing everything so close together and seeing how everything is connected gave me a great sense of belonging.

There was something nice about being able to look down at all the places that had witnessed my greatest days at once.

Horse.

I've been meaning to put a couple of pictures up for a while. My little sister had a flying lesson as a present and she took me and my dad along and I took loads of aerial photos of Kent. I only got a couple of Folkestone though and this is one of them.

It's fairly faint but if you look in the top-right corner, you can see the Shepway emblem, which is a horse. You used to be able to see it from my secondary school once it was first put it in.

Leas Cliff Hall

Yeah, here's another shot of the Leas Cliff Hall. It's very similar but I think I prefer this one.

Loitering.

Oh yes. More seagulls. When I took this, there were actually families either side of this flock.

Seascaping.

I took this down by the harbour. I find the sea-wall in the background rather visually exciting in this picture. The foreground is supposedly an old lighthouse.

Boats.

The other evening, I waited out on the sea-front waiting for a friend to finish work and whilst waiting I took this picture. The lighting is bizarre but beautiful, I think.

Watercolours.

The sea was about 50,000 colours this day. If you look closely, you can see France. I took this from the Leas.

Paddling

I know I post pictures of seagulls all the time, but to be fair they are the main feature of Folkestone. Besides, they have funny faces :)

Cliffs.

I adore the light on the cliffs in this. Lovely.

Nested.

Just now, having posted this, I noticed an orange speck on my black and white photograph only to discover it was a bit of oil pastel on my monitor. Good times.

This is the Leas Cliff hall as seen from the beach.
